La Maison du Fada

Breadfield presents new work by Copenhagen based artist Kristina Bengtsson
(b. Lund, 1979) which combines photography, sculpture and text and exemplifies her characteristically critical approach to the absolute statements and everyday thought processes we take for granted. La Maison du Fada (The Mad House) is the local nickname given to Le Corbusier’s influential Unite D’Habitation in Marseille. Bengtsson revisits this building to explore the difficulties of using photography to describe architecture while playfully puncturing the pomposity of revered icons of 20th Century culture. She has recently exhibited at Danske Grafikere, Copenhagen; Westwerk, Hamburg; HB55, Berlin; KBH Kunsthal, Skive and recent publications include New Scandinavian Photography, The Ravished Image, No particular future in mind and We Look and We See. Bengtsson is also the co-founder of the publishing house Hour Editions.

The exhibition will be running between 23 January and 11 March.
